印度尼西亚的戈托(Mbah Gotho)老人,146岁于2017年4月30日在家中去世,是世界上最长寿老人。
Hospitalized just last month, the sickly Gotho asked to return home, though his health only continued to deteriorate. "Since he came back from the hospital, he only ate spoonfuls of porridge and drank very little," Suyanto, his 47-year-old grandson, told the BBC. "It only lasted a couple of days. From that moment on to his death, he refused to eat and drink."
Sragen, Indonesia
Mbah Gotho, an Indonesian claiming to be 146 years old, died in his home in Central Java on April 30, 2017, according to the BBC. Gotho, also known as Sodimejo, would be recognized as the oldest person to have lived, though his age could not be independently verified. His family gathered around his coffin at his funeral on May 1, 2017 in Sragen, located in the Central Java province of Indonesia.Papers belonging to Gotho indicate that he was born in Dec. 31, 1870. He also has his own memories that he believes prove his potentially record-breaking elderly age. Gotho remembers building a local sugar factory in Sragen in 1880, he told the Jakarta Post. "Children in my village usually helped their parents plow paddy fields from the age of 10. This is my reason (for predicting my age)," Gotho, pictured here in February of 2017, told the newspaper in the same interview.
