SIMULACRA 拟像将于2024年2月24日带来魏子翔(Zixiang WEI)个展「4479」。在本次展览中,艺术家将画面整体以及画廊视作一整个有机体或生态,将呈现一系列有各自“尺度”,“时间”,“重力”及 “坐标” 的不具名绘画作品。“4479”不是待破译的密码, 作品中的图示也不必要被阐释,笔触便是语法,画面既语言。魏子翔认为看似有助于对画面理解的描述和形容,作品名称及其携带的书名号会在某种程度上限制作品的生命力,给予观众一条理解路径的同时,也让观众失去了无限“误读”的可能性。
SIMULACRA is pleased to present「4479」, a solo show by Chinese artist Zixiang WEI, on February 24th. In this exhibition, the artist regards both the overall composition and the gallery itself as a single organism or ecosystem, presenting a series of unnamed paintings, each with its own "scale", "time", "gravity", and "coordinates". "4479" is not a code to decipher, and the symbols in the works do not require interpretation; brushstrokes serve as grammar, and the images become the language. Zixiang WEI believes that descriptions and titles seemingly helpful for understanding the paintings will, to some extent, limit the vitality of the works, providing the audience with a path of understanding while also depriving them of the possibility of infinite "misinterpretation".
